Discover the secrets of the underground world

Visit one of the oldest and most impressive salt mines in Europe and uncover its underground wonders — from dazzing chambers to breathtaking salt-carved chapels stretching across three levels, 135 meters below the surface. The UNESCO-listed Wieliczka Salt Mine (since 1978) is a true icon of the region and one of Krakow’s must-see attractions, drawing millions of visitors every year.

You may choose a visit on:

  • Touristic Route: You will admire landscapes that can’t be found on the surface: as saline lakes and beautiful underground chambers, including the unique St Kinga’s Chapel.
  • You will learn about old mining tools and machines and the methods of salt extraction and transport used in the past. The tour is available for people of all ages and does not require above-average physical condition, but it is worth bearing in mind that there are more than 800 steps to climb.
  • Miner’s Route: You will wander through the underground salt labyrinth, exploring the mysterious and raw chambers around the oldest preserved Regis Shaft.
  • Tasks await you, such as searching for salt, testing the air in the mine and finding the right route underground. By performing practical mining tasks, you will get to know the work of representatives of old mining professions, such as methane tester and mining carpenter.
  • You will feel a shot of adrenaline, you will take part in an extraordinary, multisensory experience!
  • At the end of a tour You will enjoy lunch at a nice local restaurant serving traditional polish cuisine

Tour is available in different languages: english, french, german, spanish, italian, russian, ukrainian. If the selected language will not be available on the selected date, the tour will be in english.

Please be aware: tickets are non refundable, at some museums reservations are required several months in advance, there may be a limit on participants during the tour, and it is necessary to divide the group into two smaller groups.
